Who they are:
ClimaCell uses the Internet of Things to gather more weather data from far more places than would otherwise be possible — and far more than traditional US government weather service sources. This kind of sensing technology could turn millions of existing connected devices — like cell phones, connected vehicles, street cameras, airplanes and drones — into virtual weather stations.
The government technology connection:
Climacell was awarded a USAF SBIR for $2.9M in 2019. Its technology has multiple potential government applications for defense, intelligence, FEMA, etc.
Investor highlights:
In June 2020, Climacell closed a $23 million Series C round co-led by new investor Pitango Growth and existing investor Square Peg Capital.
